About this Blog

This blog describes different aspects of Smalltalk’s runtime environments. The implementation and screenshots are usually made with the Pharo Smalltalk dialect. From time to time, I may also use the other Cog virtual machine clients, such as Squeak, Cuis or Newspeak.

The main blog topics are:

  • Opal, the Pharo byte code compiler
  • The Cog virtual machine internals, including the JIT and the memory manager
  • Sista, the architecture built on top of the Cog to improve performance
  • Other topics related to Pharo I get interested in
